UIC IDO 2023/2024 Fall Semester Exchange & Study Abroad Programs Announcement

UIC offers students opportunities to study in one of the partner institutions including overseas partners, Hong Kong Baptist University as well as Beijing Foreign Studies University for one semester during their four years (in general Y2 or Y3 depending on program) study in UIC. Listed are available seats for 2023/2024 Fall Semester. The IDO Semester Exchange & Study Abroad Programs are voluntary programs which include tuition-waiver exchange seats and fee-paying seats.


Minimum academic requirement: cGPA 2.5 (sGPA no less than 2.0)


Minimum English language requirement for overseas exchange and study abroad: IELTS 6.0 (RWSL no less than 5.5) or TOFEL79 (RWSL no lower than 19). For HKBU & BFSU exchange, English language proficiency certificate is not required; however, a recommendation letter certifying the applicant possesses an adequate level of English proficiency for success in studies is essential.


IDO will select qualified students based on their academic records, host school quota, TOEFL/IELTS score, participation in Extra Curricular Activities as well as reference letters, and submit the complete application materials to deans and AR for approval. The Department Head or his/her representative will be invited to conduct interviews with overseas exchange and study abroad applicants. 1300 RMB application/training fee per student will be charged once the student is recruited by UIC. This fee is not refundable.

l Please kindly note that BFSU will not provide exchange seats in 2023 fall semster.

In addition, please be aware that visa issues could still be challenging.

l  Please consult your Department Head or Academic Advisor of your programme with your study plan before application.

Please hand in below print documents before 12:00 Feb. 9th, 2023 to IDO office at T4-103:

·        Application form with parents’ signatures (Print out after online application submission)

·        Original copy of UIC academic transcript (transcripts of all previous semesters you have);

·        Personal statement (print out with your signature and date);

·        Original copy of English certificate (IELTS or TOEFL), only applicable to overseas exchange and study abroad programs;

·        A signed letter of recommendation from your English language teacher and a teacher in your program respectively;

·        One copy of passport (valid at least six months after the end of the exchange and study abroad program), only applicable to overseas exchange and study abroad programs;

·        One copy of ID card (both sides on one page);
